Anna, on her way back to her flat, happened to notice a flyer posted on a telephone pole, advertising for the Sale Barn. As usual, curiosity got to her, and she couldn't help herself but to turn left into the parking lot. She jumped out of her truck and walked briskly to the lone barn that had a sign stating, "SALE BARN". Before entering, she stopped and thought about what she was doing. Of course, she had certainly saved enough money to buy a horse, and to care for it, but it was a big responsibility, but where could she keep it? She could board it at another farm, hopefully with a cheap board price, too. Before she could second guess herself again, she flung open the door and walked into the cool, dark barn. All of the stalls seemed to be empty, except for one stall at the very end of the row. She slowly strode over to the lone horse, inspecting all of the stalls as she went along. Yep, they were empty all right. Before reaching the lone horse, a tall women in a buisness suit, completely out of place in a dusty sales barn, greeted her. "Hello! Can I help you?". Anna smiled a replied, "Yes, actually. I'm, uh, I'm looking for a horse. Where are all the horses, anyways?". "Oh, we just had an auction yesterday, and all of the horses sold but this one right here." The lady walked over to the short bay horse and pointed to it. "This is the only one that didn't sell. She was the last one up on the auction block, and by then all of the buyers have gone home with thier new horses, and no one bid on her...Would you be interested in her?". Anna looked into the bay Quarter Horse's sweet, deep brown eyes, and then realized what she was getting into. "Umm, I don't know....I...I uh gotta go." Anna turned on her heels and retreated for the door, but the mare made a nickering sound, which made her stop in her tracks, and look back to see the little mare pressing her nose between the stall's bars. The lady was about to walk away and tend to some other buisness, until Anna walked back over to her and said, "I'll take her." The sales women, comletely stunned by her sudden interest in the horse. "She's two thousand dollars. Do you want to know anything else about her?" the sales women said with wide eyes. "Just her name. I want a clean start for her, and for me." The Lady shook her head and said,"The old owners didn't give us a name; It doesn't say anywhere on her papers." There was silence between them, and the women led Anna into her office, where they worked out paperwork and signatures.
